This trial studies whether baricitinib can improve symptoms and test results in adults with active dermatomyositis (a muscle and skin inflammation disease). It’s for people whose disease is still active despite prior treatment or who have been recently diagnosed.

Who can take part
- Be age 18 to under 65
- Have dermatomyositis confirmed by specific international diagnosis rules
- Have “active” disease based on doctor/muscle strength testing or skin scoring, plus at least one other abnormal health measure or lab muscle enzyme changes
- If you have relapsing (not treatment-naïve) disease: steroid dose must be stable and under 30 mg prednisone (or equivalent) for at least 4 weeks, and other immune meds must be stable for at least 3 months
- Be able and willing to sign informed consent (and have an insurance/social security coverage that fits the study)
