Who can take part

  • Be age 18 to under 65
  • Have dermatomyositis confirmed by specific international diagnosis rules
  • Have “active” disease based on doctor/muscle strength testing or skin scoring, plus at least one other abnormal health measure or lab muscle enzyme changes
  • If you have relapsing (not treatment-naïve) disease: steroid dose must be stable and under 30 mg prednisone (or equivalent) for at least 4 weeks, and other immune meds must be stable for at least 3 months
  • Be able and willing to sign informed consent (and have an insurance/social security coverage that fits the study)
