Using blood tests and AI to predict heart failure readmissions

Who can take part

  • Be 18 years or older and either admitted to the hospital or seen in the emergency department
  • You must have been diagnosed with heart failure by the study’s methods (including Framingham criteria and/or a BNP blood test)
  • Your BNP blood test must be above 100 (100–400 counts as “possible” and above 400 counts as “definite” heart failure)
  • You can (or someone can) provide informed consent to join the study
  • You must live in Ontario (not another province/country)
  • You must plan to go home after discharge (not to a skilled nursing facility/long-term care)
