Who can take part

  • You are an adult (not a child).
  • Your mitral valve leakage is considered significant (based on echo measurements like EROA or regurgitant volume).
  • Your leak is serious (typically grade 3 or 4 on ultrasound).
  • An echocardiogram suggests a specific “secondary” pattern of leakage without major structural damage to the valve parts.
  • Your heart ultrasound and anatomy suggest you could safely have either the catheter procedure (needs TEE) or standard mitral valve repair/replacement surgery.
