Who can take part

  • You have moderate to severe or severe mitral regurgitation (a leaky heart valve) that started after a heart attack.
  • You are older than 18 years.
  • You do NOT have mitral regurgitation caused by a ruptured papillary muscle (a different type of leak).
  • Your heart’s pumping strength (ejection fraction) is higher than 25%.
  • You are not scheduled for coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG).
  • You are not currently in cardiogenic shock (very low blood pressure from severe heart failure).

Repairing leaky mitral valve when standard clips are not an option

This study tests a new device called MRace that is placed through a vein in the leg to fix a leaky mitral valve (the valve between the upper and lower left heart chambers). It is for people who have significant leakage and whose heart anatomy does not allow the usual clip repair. The goal is to see if the MRace can safely and effectively reduce the leak and improve symptoms.
