Who can take part
- You are age 18 or older.
- You have acute pancreatitis, with a blood test (lipase) at least 3 times higher than normal.
- You are already admitted to the ICU or you are expected to be admitted to the ICU.
- Your illness severity is high (SOFA score 3 or higher, or 3+ points above your usual baseline).
- You do not have a known diagnosis of autoimmune pancreatitis.
- You are not pregnant and can safely take the study steroid medicine.
