Who can take part
- You are 18 or older and have MDS diagnosed by WHO standards
- Your MDS is “lower risk” (IPSS LOW or INT-1) and is not del(5q)
- Your anemia is low (hemoglobin under 9 g/dL) or you need regular blood transfusions
- You have tried ESA (or you cannot use ESA) and did not respond or later relapse without disease getting worse
- Your kidneys and liver blood tests are good enough (kidney: creatinine < 1.5x normal and clearance ≥ 40 mL/min; liver: bilirubin and liver enzymes < 1.5x normal)
