Who can take part
- You have had lower back pain for at least 3 months
- Your back pain is believed to be from wear-and-tear disc disease or a specific slippage condition
- You are 18 or older, can read and understand the study information, and sign consent
- You plan to have lumbar fusion surgery involving up to 2 spinal levels
- You have no prior surgery on your lumbar (lower) spine
- You can lie still on your back during the scan recordings and have no medical condition that makes this unsafe
