Who can take part
- You have a confirmed diagnosis of major depression or an anxiety disorder (or you are a healthy volunteer without psychiatric illness)
- If you have major depression, your depression score must be above 16 on a standard 17-question checklist
- You must be right-handed and able to give written consent
- You must not be taking psychotropic (mental health) medicines for a set washout time before starting (often 2 weeks; longer for fluoxetine, some antipsychotics, or benzodiazepines)
- You must have an iPhone or Android phone for daily activity tracking on the study app
