Brain stimulation plus cognitive training for mild TBI memory and thinking

This trial studies whether brain stimulation through the scalp can improve cognitive (thinking and memory) training in people with chronic mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). Participants train on thinking tasks while receiving a targeted “control network neuromodulation” approach to see if it enhances training results.

Who can take part

  • Be age 18–59
  • Have had a mild TBI with quick loss of consciousness (or brain-function change) lasting less than 30 minutes
  • Be injured between 3 months and 5 years ago
  • Have had post-injury confusion/memory loss (post-traumatic amnesia) for less than 24 hours
  • Have ongoing self-reported thinking problems after TBI (on their questionnaire score thresholds)
  • Be able to do the study in English and be on stable psychiatric medicines for at least 2 months
