Who can take part

  • You have HFpEF: heart pumping strength (ejection fraction) is 55% or higher
  • You have ongoing heart-failure symptoms (NYHA class II to III) and take water pills (diuretics)
  • You must not have diabetes and your body mass index (BMI) must be 35 or less
  • Your blood pressure must be between 100/60 and 180/100
  • Your kidney function must fit one of the trial’s groups: either eGFR 15–80 (with stable diuretics) or eGFR over 50 (with normal resting lung pressures)
  • Recent heart, brain, lung, and heart-rhythm problems must not have happened recently, and certain lab values (sodium/potassium/hemoglobin/liver enzymes) must be within safe ranges
