Who can take part

  • Be age 18 or older and able to give informed consent
  • Have a suspected or known liver condition such as non-alcoholic or alcoholic steatohepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis, or related conditions
  • Also consider whether you have related conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, polycystic ovary syndrome, hereditary hemochromatosis, chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, or alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency
  • Do not have an active cancer (a malignant disease)
  • Do not have viral hepatitis
  • Do not have HIV, and you must have no medical reason you cannot safely have a liver biopsy
