Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with sepsis
  • You are older than 17 years
  • You have an arterial line (a catheter in an artery) placed
  • Your lactate level was above 2 mmol/L at some point before joining
  • You do not have a known mitochondrial (energy-making) defect
  • You do not have a degenerative muscle disease
  • You do not have terminal liver failure
