Plan to lower future heart attack risk after past cancer treatment

This trial tests whether a “risk-guided” care plan can help prevent coronary artery disease (the buildup that can lead to heart attacks) in people who had cancer treatment that can affect the heart. You may get closer heart risk monitoring and guidance to reduce risk factors, such as cholesterol—especially if you can safely take statins.

Who can take part

  • Your cancer was treated more than 5 years ago, and it was a type known to possibly harm the heart (often breast cancer, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, or prostate cancer).
  • You do not have known coronary artery disease at the start of the study.
  • You cannot already have a history of coronary artery disease.
  • You can have a CT scan and produce images that are usable for the study.
  • You can sign consent, and a doctor feels you likely have at least 12 months of life expectancy (not including pregnancy or other situations that make the study unsafe).
  • You are not unable to take statin medicines, and you are not already taking statins in a way that makes it impossible to continue with the study plan.
