Compare a collagen implant vs microfracture for hip cartilage damage

This Phase 1 study tests whether an “AMIC” collagen-based treatment works better or safely than the standard microfracture procedure for a specific kind of hip cartilage injury. If you have ongoing hip pain from a cartilage defect (not arthritis), you may be able to join and receive one of these surgical treatments along with a study rehab plan.

Who can take part

  • Be age 18 to 55
  • Have hip pain for 6 months or longer that didn’t improve with non-surgical treatments
  • Have a specific hip cartilage defect in the socket area (acetabulum) that is full-thickness and sized about 3–25 cm²
  • Not have had prior surgery on the study hip, and the problem can’t be from a single traumatic event
  • Be able to follow the study’s rehab plan, and be willing/able to attend follow-up visits and understand the study language
