Telehealth spinal stimulation plus exercise for high-level incomplete SCI

This study tests whether a home, therapist-guided exercise program combined with a spinal stimulation device (with or without limited blood flow) can improve movement and function in people with incomplete tetraplegia. It may help your muscles respond better, but participation depends on safety checks and your ability to do exercises by video.

Who can take part

  • Your study doctor must clear you in writing as safe to join.
  • You’ll have a companion who can help you during the study.
  • You must be more than 1 year after your spinal cord injury, with an injury level of C8 or higher.
  • Your spinal cord injury must be “incomplete,” meaning you have AIS B, C, or D.
  • Both of your wrist muscles must show a visible response when the team tests electrical stimulation (NMES).
  • You must be able to join visits by telehealth and have the needed tech (computer/webcam/mic/speakers, internet, email, and phone).
