Who can take part
- Be between 10 and 20 years old when you enroll
- Be able to join as part of one group: normal weight control, obese control without NAFLD, or NAFLD confirmed by biopsy
- If in the NAFLD group, you must already be scheduled for a liver biopsy for medical reasons, and the biopsy report must confirm NAFLD
- Do not have other major ongoing health problems that can change metabolism or limit activities (like serious heart disease, cancer, other liver diseases, or major movement-limiting conditions)
- Do not be pregnant or planning pregnancy during the study
- Do not smoke, use illicit drugs, or have alcohol misuse
