Who can take part
- You are age 12 to 18 (or your teen is) and has obesity
- You have a confirmed diagnosis of NAFLD (fatty liver disease) by a clinician
- You have not been diagnosed with other primary liver diseases (like viral hepatitis or Wilson disease)
- You do not have type 2 diabetes requiring treatment, including insulin
- You are not currently taking medicines that can cause fatty liver (for example steroids, valproic acid, methotrexate, or statins)
- You do not have serious liver scarring shown as “bridging fibrosis,” and you can safely do MRI/MRS scans
