Who can take part

  • Be age 65 or older at the pre-surgery visit
  • Have late-stage AMD in both eyes with central vision loss (scotomas) involving the middle of vision
  • Have no signs that new abnormal blood vessel growth (CNV) is active in the past 6 months, based on eye checks and scans
  • For the implanted eye: have a significant cataract and be willing to do telescope-based training with a vision specialist
  • Have enough peripheral (side) vision to move around safely for the eye that is not implanted
  • Be able to understand consent and follow post-surgery vision training
