Imaging test to help identify aldosteronism subtype in high blood pressure

Who can take part

  • You have high blood pressure (hypertension).
  • Your bloodwork shows a higher adrenal renin ratio (ARR) on screening.
  • You may have low potassium (hypokalemia) on its own or triggered by water pills, and/or an adrenal nodule 1 cm or larger.
  • Your adrenal imaging/AVS results (if done) point to the same side of the adrenal gland (concordant lateralization).
  • You do not have kidney disease with low kidney filtration (eGFR below 40).
  • You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding, and you should not have pheochromocytoma (a specific adrenal hormone tumor).
