Brain scan and rTMS study for suicidal thoughts in opioid users

Who can take part

  • Be age 18–60 and able to complete study visits
  • For the opioid group: have an opioid use level shown by a WHO screening score of 4+ (opioid section)
  • Have depression symptoms on a PHQ-9 questionnaire and active suicidal thoughts on the SBQ-R questionnaire
  • You must be able to understand the consent form and sign it (and be willing to do all procedures)
  • You must be able to safely have an MRI and rTMS (no certain implanted metal devices; no metal that gets too close to the MRI scanner or rTMS coil)
  • If you are female: you must not be pregnant or nursing during the MRI and rTMS treatment
