Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for an outpatient (ambulatory) hip or knee replacement surgery
  • Your surgery time is before noon (12:00 pm)
  • You agree to go home the same day and have a responsible adult stay with you overnight after discharge
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18.5 and 37.0
  • You do not have diabetes, chronic kidney disease, a clotting disorder, or a nervous system condition that makes moving/control of the operated leg hard
