Who can take part
- You are currently admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU)
- You have a central venous line in the upper chest area or a pulmonary artery catheter
- You need invasive breathing support (a ventilator) and/or blood-pressure medicines given through an IV (catecholamines)
- You cannot have advanced long-term heart failure
- You should not be planning heart or other major surgery while in the study
