Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are in the intensive care unit on a breathing machine
  • You have acute respiratory distress syndrome (a serious lung injury causing breathing failure)
  • You have had at least one heart ultrasound in the first day of treatment, and more between days 2-3, 5-7, and within 48 hours of coming off the breathing machine
