Who can take part

  • You must call 911 and receive care from paramedics.
  • Your episode must be sudden fainting (brief loss of consciousness) with full recovery on your own.
  • You were unconscious for 5 minutes or less.
  • There should be no confusion or mental changes compared with your usual self afterward.
  • No seizure was seen, and the fainting should not be caused by a head injury to start with.
  • You (or your caregiver) must be able to give accurate details, without major language, thinking/memory problems, or intoxication from alcohol or drugs.
