Who can take part
- You are currently admitted to the cardiology hospital unit for heart failure symptoms or signs
- Within 24 hours of admission, your blood test (NT-proBNP) is abnormal
- Your echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) shows heart muscle or filling problems on the left side
- You do not have heart failure caused by congenital heart disease, infection of a heart valve (endocarditis), pericardial disease, or surgery within the last month
- You are not on long-term (maintenance) dialysis and you do not have a very limited life expectancy (under 1 year)
