Who can take part
- You are 18 to 75 years old.
- Your cancer is rectal adenocarcinoma, confirmed on pathology (lab tissue testing).
- Your tumor is close enough to the anus: the lower edge is less than 12 cm from the anal opening.
- Your cancer stage is locally advanced (cT3–4 N0M0 or any T with lymph nodes involved, with no distant spread like M1).
- You have not had treatment yet (no radiation, chemotherapy, or surgery for this cancer).
- Your general health is good enough for treatment (ECOG 0–2) and your kidneys/liver can tolerate chemotherapy and radiation.
