Who can take part

  • You can speak English and are willing to sign the consent form
  • Your infection started recently (in the first 4 weeks after surgery) or is an early “spread through the blood” infection (symptoms less than 3 weeks)
  • You have an infection around a primary (first-time) knee or hip replacement implant, confirmed by specific tests or an orthopedic surgeon’s clinical diagnosis
  • Your infection symptoms are NOT long-standing (more than 4 weeks)
  • You have not had revision replacement surgery and have not had a two-stage reimplantation
