PET scan study of brain inflammation after COVID
Treatments studied
Part of Brain & nervous system, Immune system & allergy, Infections clinical trials.
This early-phase study uses a special PET scan to look for signs of brain inflammation in people with ongoing (long-term) nervous system symptoms after COVID-19. It may help researchers understand what is driving symptoms and whether this imaging approach can detect inflammation.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 65 years old
- You are either a person with post-COVID neurological symptoms (PASC) or a healthy control with no neurological symptoms
- If you have PASC, your COVID infection was confirmed and your symptoms have lasted at least 4 weeks before joining
- You must match the study’s genetic test results (TSPO binder type) for the PET imaging medicine
- You must be able to do the scan safely, including having no MRI contraindications

This early-stage study tests an imaging medicine ([F-18]DPA-714) that can help researchers see inflammation in the brain and nervous system. It may help doctors better understand how “inflammation signals” differ across conditions like multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
This trial looks at brain inflammation in people with Parkinson’s using a special PET scan. The goal is to understand how brain immune activity may relate to Parkinson’s, and how the scan results change over time.
This study uses a special PET scan to look at inflammation in the brain of people with Parkinson's disease or those at risk for it. The goal is to better understand the disease and possibly find new ways to track its progression.
This study uses a special PET scan to look at brain inflammation in people with neurological symptoms after COVID-19. It aims to understand how inflammation might be linked to ongoing problems like brain fog or memory issues.
This study uses a special PET scan to look at inflammation in the body of people with long COVID (symptoms lasting 3+ months after infection). The goal is to understand why symptoms persist and find better ways to help.
This Phase 2 study uses a special PET scan to look at how active your immune system is after a recent COVID-19 infection. The goal is to understand what the immune response looks like and whether this imaging approach could help guide care.
