Who can take part
- You are age 18 or older and are in the ICU at a specific hospital (Georges Pompidou or La Pitié-Salpêtrière).
- You currently have a whole-body inflammation response (SIRS), such as fever or low body temperature, fast heartbeat, fast breathing, or abnormal blood counts.
- You are willing to take part in the study (no refusal).
- You are not pregnant.
- You do not have severe liver scarring (cirrhosis with Child-Pugh B or higher) or very underweight body mass (BMI under 15).
- You do not have nephrotic syndrome (a specific kidney condition) and are not under legal custody or guardianship restrictions.
