Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older and can legally agree to join
  • You currently smoke at least 5 cigarettes per day (when you are not in the hospital)
  • You are willing to join the study, attend all visits, and follow study steps
  • Your thinking is clear enough to understand the study (not dementia or major memory problems)
  • You can be contacted by phone and have a stable mailing address
  • You can use a nicotine patch safely (no medical reason you can’t use one)
