Who can take part
- You are an adult with a new stroke (ischemic or related to a blocked vessel) confirmed by brain scan (MRI or CT/angioscan) when you were admitted
- Your first stroke symptoms started within the last 24 hours
- You (or a close family member) can give consent to join the study
- You have no past history of stroke
- You do not have known major heart rhythm or heart device problems (like atrial fibrillation/flutter, chronic heart failure, pacemaker/defibrillator)
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you are able to participate under the study’s legal/social eligibility rules
