This trial tests whether doing scheduled brain MRI scans can lower the chance that lung cancer later causes symptomatic brain metastases (tumors that cause symptoms in the brain). If you’re eligible, you’ll get brain MRI surveillance at a specific time after starting radiation.

Who can take part

  • You’re 18 or older
  • You have stage IIIA, IIIB, or IIIC lung cancer that is not squamous-only (with specific allowed cell types)
  • Your first brain MRI scan must happen about 120 days after your first radiation treatment (between 110 and 130 days)
  • You do not already have known brain metastases on the baseline staging MRI
  • You can safely have an MRI based on MRI safety screening
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding (and pregnancy testing is required if applicable)
