Track thinking changes in older adults with hearing loss

This study follows older adults who have age-related hearing loss to see whether wearing hearing aids helps protect thinking and memory over time. You may be included if your hearing loss is the type that hearing aids can usually improve and if your thinking test scores suggest mild cognitive difficulties.

Who can take part

  • You are between 61 and 85 years old
  • You have age-related (presbycusis) sensorineural hearing loss that hearing aids can likely improve
  • You can wear hearing aids (you have not had a cochlear implant for your hearing loss)
  • Your thinking/memory test scores are low enough: MMSE 23 or below and MoCA 22 or below
  • You do not have serious, rapidly worsening, or unstable medical conditions
  • You do not have major past ear or nervous system (neurologic) problems that could affect results
