Who can take part
- You currently have (or doctors suspect) sepsis
- Your kidney blood test (creatinine) is normal before this illness, or it can be confirmed
- Your body fluids look normal (your pulse pressure variation is under 12%)
- If you are not in the sepsis group, you must be previously healthy and scheduled for laparoscopic colon cancer surgery
- If you are in the non-sepsis group, your creatinine blood test must be normal within the last 3 months
