Testing a clot-stopping product in open abdominal aorta surgery

Who can take part

  • You’re 18 years or older, and you have an abdominal aortic aneurysm or severe narrowing/blockage of the abdominal aorta or iliac arteries
  • You will have open surgery on the abdominal aorta (planned, urgent, or emergency) at San Raffaele Hospital
  • The surgeon plans to use PuraBond because standard bleeding control may not be enough
  • Your blood and clotting tests, and your liver tests, are not abnormal before surgery
  • You can sign the study consent form
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you won’t plan pregnancy for the next 24 months
