Who can take part
- You are 18–75 years old and were assigned male or female at birth.
- Your esophageal squamous cell carcinoma is advanced, recurrent, or has spread, and cannot be treated with a curative (radical) approach.
- You haven’t had any prior whole-body anti-cancer treatment, or if you had chemo with curative-intent treatment before, it must have been more than 6 months ago.
- A scan shows at least one measurable tumor area that hasn’t been treated with radiotherapy before (unless that area clearly grew after treatment).
- You can provide tumor tissue for biomarker testing (like PD-L1), and your performance status is good (ECOG 0–1).
- Your blood tests and organ function meet safety limits (for example, enough white blood cells, platelets, and kidney/liver function), and you can swallow pills.
