Who can take part

  • You (or your legal guardian) must sign informed consent to join the study.
  • You are between 18 and 70 years old.
  • Your spinal cord injury is in the chest area (between T2 and T10) and surgery is needed within 72 hours of the injury.
  • Your doctor must be able to find a specific reflex signal called the bulbocavernosus reflex.
  • Your injury is classified as ASIA A (a severe type of spinal cord injury) by the ISNCSCI exam.
  • You must NOT have serious brain injury or breathing support that is needed permanently.
