Electrical stimulation for recent spinal cord injury recovery

This trial tests whether a mild electrical stimulation (called TENS) can help recovery after a recent spinal cord injury. It is for people who are already in the ICU with a drain in their lower back and had a blunt injury within the past 12 hours.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older.
  • You had a spinal cord injury from a fall or crash (not a knife or bullet) within the last 12 hours.
  • Your injury level is between your neck (C4) and upper back (T10).
  • Your injury is classified as 'complete' or 'incomplete' (AIS grade A, B, or C).
  • You are in the intensive care unit with a lumbar drain in place.
