Who can take part

  • You are a woman age 18 or older with regular periods (about 21–40 days between periods).
  • You have been vegan or vegetarian (no meat or fish) for at least 1 year.
  • You agree to keep your usual diet during the whole study, and you won’t change any routine iron or B12 supplement dose during that time.
  • Your blood tests show you are not anaemic, with hemoglobin 120 g/L or higher, and your iron stores are in a specific range (ferritin more than 15 but under 60).
  • Your BMI is between 18.5 and 40, and you live within 40 miles of Norwich Research Park.
  • You can use a smartphone/internet and are willing to eat the hydroponic salad greens if offered.
