Who can take part

  • You are a woman between 18 and 45 years old.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18.5 and 24.9 (normal range).
  • You weigh less than 70 kg (about 154 pounds).
  • Your iron stores are low (in the lower half of the normal range for your age).
  • You are not pregnant, not breastfeeding, and do not plan to become pregnant during or soon after the study.
  • You have no chronic digestive, kidney, or metabolic diseases, and you are not taking regular medications (except birth control pills).
