Who can take part

  • You are between 20 and 50 years old
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 25 to 40 (study group) or 18.5 to 24.9 (control group)
  • You do not have type 1 diabetes, and you do not have type 2 diabetes using insulin or diabetes pills
  • You have not had weight-loss surgery (bariatric surgery) and you have not used weight-loss drugs
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you are not menopausal (for women)
  • You do not have certain health problems (like unstable heart disease, serious kidney/liver failure, malabsorption disease, severe thyroid/pituitary hormone disorders), and you have not had more than 5% weight change in the last 6 months
