Who can take part

  • You must have head and neck squamous cell cancer that was locally advanced (stage III–IV) and confirmed by pathology at the start of treatment.
  • After your first treatment (surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and/or targeted treatments), there must be no remaining tumor lesions.
  • Your cancer must have “high-risk” features such as T3–4 stage, positive lymph nodes, tumor invading blood vessels or nerves, certain lymph node capsule involvement, or a positive surgical margin.
  • You must be 18–70 years old and be able to do daily activities at a level score of 0 or 1 (called ECOG).
  • There must be no spread to distant organs (no distant metastasis) on scans at enrollment.
  • Your blood counts, liver/kidney tests, heart pumping strength (left ventricular ejection fraction ≥ 50%), blood clotting tests, and thyroid test (TSH ≤ 1.5 times normal) must fall within required limits. (You also must have no active bleeding or blood clot issues.)
