Who can take part

  • Be between 2 and 8 years old
  • Have a planned (not emergency) eye surgery that uses general anesthesia
  • Be otherwise medically stable (ASA I or II—generally healthy or mild health issues)
  • Have not had general anesthesia in the past month
  • Not have autism or developmental delays
  • Not have known brain, nervous system, or psychiatric conditions that commonly cause agitation, anxiety, attention problems, or sleep issues
