Prednisolone vs Cerebrolysin for sudden facial weakness

Who can take part

  • You have sudden one-sided facial weakness (Bell’s palsy) with no identifiable cause
  • This is not a repeat (not recurrent) episode of Bell’s palsy
  • You are not pregnant and can confirm pregnancy status if needed
  • You do not have certain conditions that make steroid-like medicines unsafe (like diabetes, epilepsy, severe uncontrolled blood pressure, major kidney or liver disease, or stomach/duodenal ulcers)
  • You do not have active ear infections or certain recent injuries (no acute ear infection, no chronic ear infection on the same side, and no recent head injury)
