Surgery first plus aligners to improve jaw alignment

This trial studies how well a treatment plan works when you start with jaw surgery and then use clear aligners for orthodontic (teeth/jaw) finishing. It may help people whose jaw growth/position problems are mainly due to the lower jaw being too far forward or the upper jaw being too far back.

Who can take part

  • You are an adult (age 18 or older).
  • You have a jaw-bite problem called skeletal malocclusion.
  • Your jaw measurements suggest your upper jaw is smaller or your lower jaw is larger (ANB zero or negative and Witts negative).
  • You have a clear need for bimaxillary surgery (both upper and lower jaw surgery).
  • You have NOT had full orthodontic braces/orthodontic treatment before.
  • You do NOT have certain facial/bone issues (like craniofacial differences or prior facial-bone fractures), and you do not take medications that make surgery unsafe.
