Jaw surgery study: how jaw position affects joint healing

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • You have a class III skeletal deformity (an underbite caused by bone structure)
  • You are scheduled for bimaxillary orthognathic surgery (both upper and lower jaw surgery)
  • You've completed pre-surgery orthodontic treatment (braces or aligners)
  • During surgery, when the lower jaw piece is moved, it can only be rotated very slightly (no more than 4 degrees counterclockwise)
