Who can take part

  • Babies must be born at 35 weeks 0 days through 41 weeks 6 days
  • Birth weight must be at least 2500 grams
  • Your baby’s breathing rate must be under 60 breaths per minute
  • Baby is admitted to the newborn unit for light therapy (phototherapy) for high bilirubin (jaundice)
  • Jaundice must be linked to mother-and-baby blood type mismatch (ABO incompatibility)
  • A parent/guardian must sign informed consent
