Who can take part

  • You are age 18 or older and can sign informed consent
  • You have severe diabetic retinopathy, confirmed as “severe” by eye exam findings
  • Your vision test score is in the study range (roughly 20/400 to 20/32)
  • You should be able to cooperate with eye tests after surgery (including corneal clarity, good pupil dilation, and OCT scans)
  • You have not had eye procedures like laser or non-cataract eye surgery recently, and no additional eye surgery is planned within 6 months
