Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have type 1 or type 2 diabetes with active diabetic eye disease in the study eye.
  • Your vision in the study eye is between 20/40 and hand motions on an eye chart.
  • You need vitrectomy because of blood in the eye that hasn't cleared, scar tissue pulling on the retina, or abnormal blood vessel growth that threatens your central vision.
  • You have not had a vitrectomy in the study eye before.
  • Only one eye per patient can be in the study.
