Prevention and treatment study for new brittle bone fractures

This study looks at ways to prevent and treat “brittle bone” refractures after a recent fracture in people with osteoporosis. If you’ve had a new hip, spine, or other bone fracture, the trial may test strategies to lower the chance of another fracture.

Who can take part

  • You have had a new brittle hip fracture or new brittle spine fracture, or a new fracture in another location.
  • You are a man or a postmenopausal woman, age 45–90.
  • You can move around on your own.
  • You do not have other bone diseases (besides osteoporosis) such as Paget’s disease, osteomalacia, or osteogenesis imperfecta.
  • You have kidney function that is not severely reduced (GFR 30 or higher).
